摘要

Despite recent rains, drought effects are keeping hay prices high in California. As a result, growers and livestock producers remain nervous about current and future forage supplies.Overall, hay prices are higher across the West, according to market analyst Seth Hoyt, author of a marketing newsletter called The Hoyt Report.Early Februaryprices for Imperial Valley premium-supreme alfalfa hay were at $250-260/ ton f.o.b.That's a turnaround from Hoyfs mid-December predictions - made before drought took hold - of lower hay prices following the drop in corn grain prices.
