According to figures reported by Muse, Stancil & Co., refining margins around the world tumbled during Sept. US Gulf Coast refiners saw the largest drop in margins, plummeting from $8.00/bbl in Aug. to $2.01/bbl in Sept. Despite a $5.21/bbl drop in refining margins, US Midwest refiners continued to post higher margins than any other region at $24.93/bbl in Sept. Meanwhile, the already poor margins for the US East Coast dropped even lower, ending at -$1.76/bbl in Sept.
