The Nedierlands has been more receptive to shale drilling than some of its near neighbors, but any actual exploration in the country is still a long way off, as the government has decided to carry out am 18-monfh study before test drilling will be allowed to continue. According to Economic Affairs Minister Henk Kamp in a Sept. letter to the Dutch House of Representatives, "Some possible locations for test drilling for shale gas have been identified by companies applying for a license. But I want to be able to evaluate all sites in the Netherlands where drilling is possible...Attention can men be focused on mose locations that are known to be promising, and how their environmental risks can best be managed."
