Heavy Polish Wind Development Possible But Not Yet Probable

Poland pledged as part of the 2004 agreement under which it joined the European Union (EU) to obtain 7.5% of its energy from renewable sources by 2010, rising to 15% by 2020. This spring, Warsaw reiterated these targets in an energy policy paper extending out to 2030, adding a goal of 20% for that date. But with coal-fired power stations still supplying over 90% of Polish electricity, the country is nowhere near meeting its pledges.
