Gross LNG imports from Qatar into Northwest Europe, excluding re-exports, climbed 21% year-on-year in the first nine months of 2015, as this key swing LNG supplier apparently continued to try to cushion the Asian market by sending large volumes west. Europe is commonly referred to as the "LNG dumping ground" by market participants (WGI Aug.26'15). Approximately 8.6 million tons were shipped from Qatar into Northwest European terminals in the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium from January to September, WGI data suggests.
