The dramatic shift in Egypt's fortunes that has seen it switch from being a gas exporter to a future gas importer looks to have con- centrated minds in Cairo, forcing the realization that the government needs to become more accommodating on fiscal tenns and gas prices if it wants to attract international investment. The change of heart already seems to have had an impact, with top firms recently announcing a raft of multibillion-dollar spending plans that should boost gas output and help reduce LNG imports.
