Asia Freefall Halts on Tentative Demand, Europe Edges Down

Prices in Northeast Asia held steady at $ 10.65 per million Btu, halting one of the region's sharpest price downturns on record, amid tentative signs of buying interest, according to WGI assessments for LNG cargoes for delivery four to eight weeks ahead. Prices in Southwest Europe edged down 10c to $9.80/MMBtu. The UK National Balancing Point (NBP) day-ahead price assessed by WGI crept up 1c to $6.35, while August NBP futures slipped 1c to $6.39. Netbacks for Mideast sellers were around $0.75 higher on Asian than Southwest Europe deliveries, while UK-Belgian netbacks for Mideast sellers lagged Asia by about $4.25.
