Russian state-controlled Rosneft's President Igor Sechin intervened in gas export monopoly Gazprom's negotiations with China during a visit there this week, by offering Beijing the prospect of cooperation in LNG production and exports with his group, illustrating yet again the oil giant's growing assertiveness just one week after it had widened the scope of an existing upstream pact with ExxonMobil.
