Myanmar plans to join the club of Southeast Asian LNG importers, with the government last week issuing a tender to import up to 200 MMcf/d (1.18 million tons/yr) of LNG before March 2014 for power plants in the Yangon region, and up to 3.94 million-4.72 million tons/yr for the subsequent five to 10 years. It is unclear whether the tender will also include construction of a floating storage and regasifi-cation unit. Technical and commercial proposals are due on Jul. 31.
