Latin America Pays Top Dollar for Growing LNG Imports

Just six years after Mexico, Latin America's biggest LNG importer, commissioned its iirst import terminal, the region has become for now, at least, the world's highest-paying LNG market. Prices for shipments into Mexico, Argentina, Brazil and Chile are currently around $16 per million Btu - almost $2 higher than in Northeast Asia, usually the top payer (p7). The situation is expected to revert once Northeast Asia starts buying again ahead of the Northern Hemisphere summer and the Southern Hemisphere winter ends, but the shift, however temporary, underscores Latin America's growing appetite for LNG.
