A month with no reference to the subject of the past few editions. Not this time 'what worries us' but perhaps what ought to worry us. Several recent conversations with growers convince me, if I needed convincing, that part of any modern research team's objectives should be trying to anticipate problems before they happen. Times are such that unexpected clangers are most unwelcome. In the case that I have in mind it's possible, even probable, that the problem may already be occurring, unnoticed. Let me explain.
