Mycogone - Wet bubble - The Cinderella of mushroom diseases

If you are old, or an avid reader of text books, you will know that this disease was the most important one in Britain 40 or 50 years ago. From the late 60s/early 70s it was largely relegated to the second division, being superseded in importance by Verticillium or dry bubble, followed by Trichoderma, compost mould, Dactylium (Cladobotryum) or Cobweb; Verticillium again and then Virus X disease. In most people's minds, in this country at least, Mycogone does not assume any great importance, althoughthere is little doubt that it is under-reported, often being confused with symptoms caused by Verticillium.
