A SPORTS EXHAUST system is one of the most popular upgrades for any car, and for obvious reasons - it's easily fitted, it looks good and it sounds sporty. It has always been a moot point, though, whether there is any significant improvement in performance, or is it just the louder exhaust note and perception of greater speed which is at play. Virtually all systems on the market nowadays are well made, with long-lasting stainless steel now almost de rigeur, potentially offering as much improvement in performance as appearance and sound, but few manufacturers make any definitive claims for power increases. Admittedly, there are a great many factors involved in power testing every system that is produced, and every possible permutation of application, so it's usually anecdotal evidence which says that one system performs better than another.
