AS IF TO PROVE that Skodas are not always re-bodied Volkswagens or SEATs, the Yeti 'crossover' is unique within the Volkswagen Group. Launched in 2009 the Yeti created its own niche and was a worthwhile and successful addition to the Skoda range. It won the Car of the Year award in 2010 and is often at, or near the top of, most driver satisfaction surveys. Despite having been around for only four years, Skoda is comprehensively refreshing the Yeti and this constant updating of its cars is one of the reasons that Skoda is doing so well. It sold around 64,000 cars in the UK in 2013 (up 20 per cent on last year), around 500,000 in Europe and nearly one million globally.
