Minergy Recycles Wastewater Solids

Minergy Detroit, LLC (N16W23217 Stone Ridge Dr., Waukesha, WI 53188-1155; Tel: 414/225-6161, Fax: 414/225-6166) and the City of Detroit have finalized contractual agreements that pave the way for construction of the 150 million dollars Clear Horizons wastewater solids recycling plant in southwest Detroit. On completion, the plant will reduce air pollution by 72 percent compared with solids incineration and cut dioxin, mercury, and other pollutant emissions.Using Minergy's vitrification technology, the plant will recycle 500 to 600 dry tons per day of waste-water solids into 125 to 150 tons of glass aggregate, used in concrete additives, ceramic floor tiles, and industrial abrasives. The plant will also produce approximately 25 MW of electricity.
