The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) standards of accreditation ensure that a veterinary practice is performing at the highest level. To keep practices up to par, AAHA has several consultants who evaluate practices according to these standards. Since February 2005, Laurie Miller, RVT, has worked as an AAHA practice consultant, evaluating veterinary practices for their compliance with the AAHA standards, recruiting new practices, and representing AAHA at conventions. Laurie, who worked foralmost 15 years in the clinic setting, describes the transition she made and the life-changing events in her career.
