Birds typically hide signs of illness and many conditions produce very similar clinical pictures. Common signs of illness include lethargy; anorexia; a fluffed appearance; increased respiratory rate or effort; and, abornomal stool production. Historymust be thorough and include signalment; past medical history; source of the pet; complete diet history; caging history including whether or not the pet is always supervised; exposure to other pets; recent medical history; and, recent illness/deaths of other birds in the household.
