New single nucleotide polymorphisms were discovered during the psoriasis vulgaris case-control study of gene HLA-C in Shaanxi Chinese Han.

Psoriasis vulgaris (PsV; OMIM 177900) is one kind of chronic autoimmune dermatology that is mediated by T lymphocytes (1). The mainstream view of medical science deems that it belongs to complex disease arising from a combination of both genetic and environmental risk factors. Statistics show that the onset of PsV is racial differences. It affects l%-3% of Caucasian population, whereas its prevalence is as low as 0.123% in Chinese Han (2). In recent years, 11 psoriasis susceptibility loci were identified on chromosomes (3), and human leukocyte antigen (HLA)-C is one of the most promising candidate genes located at locus PSORS1. Similar to other major histocompatibility complex I-type genes, its transcription product has the function of antigen presentation. HLA-C is a highly polymorphic gene.
