Use of non-steroidale antiphlogistics in horses

Non-steroidale antiphlogistics are the most frequently used painkillers in human and veterinary medicine. In horses they are used mainly during the perioperative period and for the treatment of musculoskeletal and visceral pain. The non-steroidale antiphlogistic drugs presented in this article differ considerably in their biochemical/pharmacological properties, the analgesic potential and their toxicity.
