Displacement of. the abomasum (DA) is a common disorder of. dairy cattle in early lactation. The aetiology is multifactorial and a number of nutritional and management conditions are important risk factors. Impairment of abomasal motility and gas accumulation in the abomasum are two commonly known factors that contribute to the development of DA. This study evaluated serum concentrations of the gastrointestinal motility hormones ghrelin, motilin, gastrin and leptin7 which is a functional antagonist of ghrelin, in cattle with left DA (LDA) and right DA (RDA).
