Practice guidance issued by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society regarding the administration of chloramphenicol eye drops says that a patient should blink several times to spread the drug around.j-[owever,on p521 of the current British National Formulary it says this method of administration is recommended for eye ointments only.The eye should be closed for one to two minutes after administering an eye drop without blinking.
