ABEAUTIFUL PUBLIC orchid garden was really , the only thing missing in BaU, known in Indonesia as the Island of the Gods.That was also the opinion of New Zealanders Drs David and Dorothy Dowd, a veterinarian and medical doctor respectively. About fifteen years ago they decided to do something about it. 'I have three loves in my life,' David told me and my vwfe during our recent visit to BaU, 'my wife, orchids and Bali. Dorothy and I have been happily married for 45 years, both of us have always loved orchids, and we have been fascinated by BaH for many years. So we decided to set up this large orchid garden in our beloved Bali.'
