Steel Construction Center Offers Lecture on Practical Designs of Steel Bridges

The Steel Construction Center of the Korea Iron & Steel Association hosted a lecture on practical designs of steel bridges at POSCO Center on May 15 under the auspices of the Ministry of Construction and Transportation, the Korean Society of Civil Engineers, the Korean Society of Steel Construction, POSCO and Hyundai Steel, and about 200 engineers from steelmakers, construction companies and engineering firms were present at the lecture. Dr. Gil Heung-bae from the Highway & Transportation Technology Institute gave a lecture under the subject of the 'revision to cost calculation for the production of steel bridges and the related economic effect,' reporting that two-girder bridges are creating considerably higher effects than steel box-type girder bridges in terms of economic efficiency, convenience in construction and maintenance.
