Lasting shortage of 300 series stainless steel

300 series stainless hot rolled coils are still in short supply. The shortage of them since the beginning of this year is attributed to a soaring nickel price and the decreased import, coupled with less production by POSCO due to a temporary line stoppage for remodeling of POSCO's No. 2 stainless hot strip mill. Originally, POSCO NO. 2 hot strip mill was scheduled to re-start on May 3, but it requires more time to test the line, making the full operation not possible before end of May.
