STUDIES ON SOME PRETREATMENT METHODS TO IMPROVE SEED GERMINATION IN FOUR SELECTED TERMMALIA SPECIES

Experiments were conducted to study theeffect of different pretreatment methods with differentdurations on four Terminalia species such asTerminalia alata, Terminalia arjuna, Terminaliabellerica and Terminalia chebula. All the pre-treatmentmethods in different durations showed bettergermination percentage compared to control and thesame methods can be adopted for raising the seedlingson large scale in the nursery practices for plantationprogrammes to meet the energy demand as well as tomaintain ecological balance and environmentalstability.
