In 2006 The Journal of Urology was the most frequently cited (42,431 total cites) journal overall of the 55 journals tracked in the urology and nephrology category by Journal Citation Reports published by ISI/Thomson Scientific. The single most cited article in 2006 was from The Journal of Urology as were 5 of the top 20 articles, the latter accomplishment matched only by the Journal of the American Society of Nephrology Should authors care? Should readers care?
