The X-15 was often considered "the most successful research airplane in history." For this reason, it is worthwhile to reflect upon the significance of the rocket research aircraft and about lessons learned (or lessons that should have been learned) from its nearly 10 years of flight research, as well as the contributions it has made to technology.
