Reply to Dr. Bland: Despite Error in Formula, EPIC Scale Still Precise

We wish to thank the author who identified an error in the formula we used for computing minimal detectable change (MDC) of the evidence-based practice confidence (EPIC) scale in our article recently published in JCEHP.' As the author who critiqued our article points out, the correct formula for computing MDC at the 95% confidence level is MDC95 = 1.96 x(/2)x SEM. Using the correct formula, the MDC95 of the EPIC scale is 6.1 percentage points, not 4.1 as we reported. The formula is correct in the reference we cited.2 We take full responsibility for the error.
