摘要

A fowl pox virus isolate was propagated in chicken embryo fibroblast cell culture. The virus was purified using sucrose gradient ultracentrifugation and the DNA was extracted. Viral DNA was digested with 12 different restriction endonucleases. A large number of small sized fragments were obtained with Alu I and HpaI. Hind III, Hae III and Eco RI digestion produced more than 40, 34 and 30 well resolved fragments. A large unresolved fragment with 4, 18 and 9 well resolved fragments were obtained respectively, after Sal I, Pst I and Bam HI digestion. Dra I, Alu I, Pvu I, Hinf I and Rsa I were not considered very useful in restriction analysis study of fowl pox virus.
