Production and characterization of monoclonal antibodies against infectious bursal disease virus.

Partially purified protein from a field strain of infectious bursal disease virus (N-93) was used to produce 260 hybridomas in Balb/c mice. The specificity of the hybridomas was tested by an ELISA; clones obtained from 4E6 hybridomas were highly specific. Of the 2 stable clones produced, one (4E6) was characterized. The monoclonal antibody of IgGZb had a strong neutralizing activity specific to the virus. The neutralizing monoclonal antibody 4E6 3C6 did not meet with the viral protein in Western immunoblotting.
