Oxygen Consumption and Heat Production in Karan Fries Cattle During Different Seasons

摘要

The Physiological responses RT, RR, PR and ST were found to be maximum at 2 pm and minimum at 2 am during all the seasons in both adult and growing KF cattle. During summer season average oxygen consumption in adult Karan Fries cattle was found to bemaximum at 2 pm an minimum at 2 am. Maximum heat production was observed at 2 pm in Karan Fries adult cattle during summer which differed significantly (p<0.05) with growing during different seasons. A circadian rhythmic variation during different seasons helps in regulating physiological functions and optimizes oxygen consumption in order to maintain the thermal balance.
