Urinary tract infection (UTI) is one of the most common canine infections and its etiology is generally credited to Gram negative rods such as Escherichia coli, Proteus spp. and Klebsiella pneumoniae. Nevertheless, opportunistic pathogen like Cory nebacterium has also occasionally been implicated with such cases (Kowalski, 1988). Corynebacterium group D2 (C urealyticum) is an opportunistic pathogen in humans, mainly in urinary tract infections (Nieto, 2000) has rarely been reported in dogs (Suarez eta!, 2002; Bailiff etal, 2005). The purpose of this communication is to report a case of canine UTI from a Labrador dog caused by Corynebacterium group D2.
