摘要

Polymer chemistry is advancing rapidly as majorimprovements in polymer synthesis make an impact.Some of the most far-reaching advances have comefrom "living" free radical polymerization and from theintroduction of dendrimers. This means many poly-mers can now be prepared with high precision forspecific applications. Clearly, these advances neces-sitate a method for describing the polymers precisely.Thus, nomenclature needs to develop in parallel withsynthetic advances. IUPAC task groups have beenactively pursuing this goal. This project aims to reviseand to bring up to date the IUPAC Recommendationson Macromolecular Nomenclature, which are the firstresource for authors of papers and reports in polymerscience and technology.
