Tariff reductions of up to 5% on tobacco and other 'sensitive' commodities traded between members of the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN), are likely to be delayed, according to ASEAN officials, says a brief in the World Tobacco magazine. The reductions were designed to expose the commodities to freer trade, but it was decided that they could threaten the livelihoods of farmers and hurt countries, such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand, that export these commodities.
