Hybrid vigour, gene action and combining ability in chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) hybrids involving male sterile lines

With the availability of stable male sterile sources, it has become possible to reduce the cost of hybrid seeds. Therefore, in the present study on Chilli (Capsicum annuum L. var. lougum (D.C.) Sendt.) an attempt was made to identify parents with good general combining ability (gca) and hybrids with high heterosis and specific combining ability (sea).
