A N aggressive competitive war has been triggered between pharmacies in the growth area of Liverpool in NSW resulting in price promotion of multiple packs of analgesics and spruiking for customers inside a rival pharmacy.A new player within the Liverpool market, Chemist Warehouse, has gone on the front foot in its competitive campaign to attract customers away from its more established rivals. Its aggressive campaign clearly aims to establish itself as the price leader in the area by reportedly offering big discounts-well below cost in some circumstances-on analgesic products. These reportedly include Panamax tabs in packs of 100 for between 69c and 89c and volume discounts on a host of analgesics. Rivals have also reported that staff from the Chemist Warehouse had been spruiking for customers both inside and outside their pharmacies.
