Efforts to attain a separate award for pharmacists and assistants that reflected their unique role as healthcare professionals, and which had union support, has been unsuccessful. The rejection of the proposal by the full bench of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission (AIRC) was met with disappointment by Pharmacy Guild of Australia and industry officials.
