Communication skills in medication management reviews

Good communication skills are essential for every pharmacist and especially when conducting medication reviews-both home medicines reviews (HMRs) and residential medication management reviews (RMMRs). When conducting HMRs, pharmacists have the luxury of time to gain some insight into the patient's beliefs and attitudes about their health and, in particular, medication therapy. There is strong evidence to suggest that good communication skills can have a significant positive effect on patient satisfaction and understanding, leading to positive health outcomes such as improved adherence.
