TEPCO To Arrange 9 Coastal Oil Tankers For Transportation To Oil-Fired Power Plants

Tokyo Electric Power Company, or TEPCO, is expected to increase number of coastal ship by one to total nine for the transportation of fuel to oil-fired thermal power stations. In order to cope with growing concern about tightness in the supply of electricity on account of accidents at nuclear power plants, which was caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake, the company intends to support operations at thermal power plants by considerably raising its capacity to transport fuel from the prequake level of four vessels.
