Banpu To Acquire Hunnu Coal Of Australia

Banpu Public Company of the Thailand leading energy company was revealed to embark on acquisition of Hunnu Coal of the Australian independent coal company. The company is to acquire Hunnu which is promoting plural coal projects in Mongolia in order to enter coal export operation in that country where premium hard coking coal is amply reserved. As reported, Banpu bought out 12.39% (30 million) shares of Hunnu on March 9, 2010 for 45 million Australia dollars, and became the largest shareholder of Hunnu. Banpu is to aim at acquisition of all issued shares of Hunnu through a takeover bid (TOB) subsequently. The purchase price is 1.80 Australia dollars a share, and total acquisition amount on the basis of 100% shares becomes 477 million Australia dollars.
