Australian thermal coal negotiations for the fiscal year 2010 (starting in April 2010) are expected to be started in February or later. At the beginning contract negotiations between Australian suppliers and Japanese electric power companies had been expected to be started around end January, but it has become rather difficult for suppliers to set up offer prices due to soaring spot market of thermal coal and as a result visits of major Australian coal suppliers such as Xstrata Coal seem very likely to be postponed to February or later.
