Lighter compounds for tomorrow's cars

Louth, Lincoln-shire-based technical plas-tics company Luxus has undertaken extensive development on lightweight polypropylene compounds intended to significantly reduce the weight of the average car. The company points to potential carbon dioxide emission reductions of 520,000 tonnes per annum.The new materials are designed to replace standard talc-filled grades for car interior components, with filler content cut from a typical 25% to 10%. They contain up to 60% recycled content.
