We are facing an epidemic of type n diabetes mellitus (DM). Methods of screening for and diagnosing diabetes in the general population are clearly set out in established guidelines (1). However, there are no agreed-upon diagnostic tests to screen for de novo DM in end-stage renal failure patients on dialysis. This is especially relevant for patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD). Advancing age and Long-term exposure to dialy-sate glucose with its calorific consequence are risk factors for developing DM.
