Shanhua conducts trial run for 46kT/ year PTMEG facility

Shaanxi, China-Shaanxi Shanhua Coal Chemical Group had a successful trial run on of its 46kT/year PTMEG facility in Weinan, Shaanxi province. The overall project, including an upstream 1,4-BDO facility with lOOkT/ year capacity, was started in March 2012 with RMB2.6bn ($426m) total investment. Shanhua also has a 30kT/ year 1,4-BDO plant that went into operation in May 2008. The new project is the first BDO downstream project completed within the province and uses the Reppe method for BDO production, which was purchased from Invista, according to the company's website.
