摘要

While commending the authors for a well planned and statistically analyzed study, we have reasons to believe that the conclusions expressed viz. the overestimation of stone size by ultrasound (US) affecting interventional decisions, and that US should be considered of limited value in the work-up of urolithiasis, are a tad too cate-gorical and may not be universally applicable. Here are the reasons for our concerns. Cost factor: During the past 2 decades, we have had access to a standard US machine and computed tomography (CT) scanner, which have been replaced by 3D US and 64-slice CT over the last 4 years. Catering to a large segment of a financially underprivileged population, with a majority lacking health insurance, lowering the cost burden of management has been one of our prime concerns.
