U.S.: For a few dollars more, looks to solve the good, the bad and the ugly

A lot of buyers in Asia and Europe are looking to the U.S. for potential metallurgical coal deals, but so far that is all they are doing, at least for the most part. That's the feeling a U.S. Coal Review source is getting from the latest foray by overseas consumers into the U.S. market. The seemingly endless problems confronting Australian producers in getting coal exports shipped, coupled with fresh setbacks for Canadian met shippers, has some desperate buyers scampering near and far to secure supply. U.S. suppliers, of course, are willing to help, and sales have been made in some instances. But, smelling blood in the water, they have raised their asking price for coking coal.
