Someone send a note to Pittsburgh: CONSOL has one of best quarters in company history

CONSOL Energy didn't get the note about all the doom and gloom and instead ripped one out of the park in the first quarter. The company made 1.08 dollars/share, 260 percent better than the 41 cents/share it earned in the comparable 2008 period. "This was one of the best quarters in the company's history," J. Brett Harvey, president and CEO, said. "Despite the weakened economy, CONSOL was able to achieve outstanding net income and earnings per share. Both our coal and gas segments performed extremely well in these difficult times."
