China's National Development & Reform Commission sprung some interesting news in the usual way - a statement on its web site. The country will establish four to six sites in Shandong at which it will store up to 20 million metric tonnes apiece of coal. "The province needs to build coal stockpiles and transit bases urgently to cope with potential energy supply disruptions," the NDRC said, as reported by Bloomberg. "Coal resources will become tighter in the long term, and it will be harder to secure resources from the outside market."
