August MDIP could rise after OP-fueled $25 gain

US market deinked pulp (MDIP) prices rose $25/tonne in July after the fiber used to make the pulp increased for a second straight month and producers drove through price hikes to recoup rising costs, industry contacts said. Buyers were unable to push back last month's price hike in MDIP — even as the pulp industry entered a downturn — because papermakers needed the furnish to make end products branded as having recycled content, mainly printing and writing and specialty papers.
