NewPage today gave its coated freesheet (CFS) customers less than a week's notice of a $60/ton ($3/cwt) price increase on sheetfed covers and sheeter roll covers - and blocked attempts to beat the hike by pre-ordering. The company imposed an immediate moratorium on all new orders of its Anthem, Fortune, and Gusto products until Thursday, when it said it would begin accepting new orders at the higher price. The increase applies to all finishes and private label programs.
